Naomi’s Story

Hello everyone!

Happy New Year! This year was the most amazing year ever. We went to Orlando, Florida for my birthday in February, Hawaii in April, Lake Superior in August, and Wisconsin Dells in October. I even went to Portland, Oregon in August by myself!

I participated in the Glendale-River Hill School District’s “Run for the Hill” run-walk race, a fund raising program for the school district again and I won the second place for the Middle School group, and Dad won second this year which was one place better than last year. I was very excited to see this. I thought that I wouldn’t be able to get any place because I was competing against all the girls in the middle school from fifth through eighth grade. This year Dad and I were tied, but I don’t know about next year.

The following are stories about our trips by my sister Naomi and me. Mine is always going to be longer than Naomi’s since she is only in second grade and I am in fifth. I’ll put her stories in front of mine.

Visiting Mickey Mouse

I went to a lot of places this year. I went to Orlando, Florida, Hawaii, Lake Superior and Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. In February I went to Orlando, Florida to see Mickey Mouse. As soon as we got off of the airplane, Mickey Mouse came to greet us and took us onto a Disney Express bus to the hotel. We had a swimming pool behind the hotel. Every day my sister and I went swimming and sliding there. It was warm even when it was winter.

The next day, we went to the Tower of Terror at Disney World. It was scary but fun, because you first go straight up then forward, and all of the sudden you go straight down, so you don’t know what is coming up. That is the scary part. I also went on the Splash Mountain. I first stepped onto the boat floating through all the fun stuff on the water. Then all of the sudden I got splashed. Then, Boom! I went down to the water, almost straight down, and very fast. I got soaked but it was really fun!

Spring Fun in Hawaii I had a wonderful hotel; it was called the Hawaii Hilton Village. We were on the 23rd floor, our room faced right toward the ocean and the swimming pool. Every morning at 9:00 my sister and I went to feed the penguins, fish and flamingos. I went to the Polynesian Center where we watched dances and movies. My dad went up to the stage and made funny performance by following the main actor. He was like Ho Ho Bum!! He Ho. Everyone laughed. It was very funny.

We went snorkeling the next day. It was so cold that I did not do it very long. Only my dad and my sister spent time under the water. The other day we flew to see the live volcanoes. We stood close to the live lava and saw fire going into the ocean and producing a huge smoke. On the way back to the hotel it was pitch dark. My dad led us go into the woods to see a lava cave at 10:00 PM. We were really scared! But my dad was not.

Cool Summer by Lake Superior   In August, we went to Lake Superior. We stayed in my dad’s friend house for the first night. We saw a very big boat going through a bridge. It was huge and I mean huge. This bridge can go up and down. We went under it on a cruise; it was cool. The next day we went to Thunder Bay in Canada. My dad drove us to a top of a hill. I saw the full view of the lake and a sleeping giant. It was so beautiful!

Splashing in the Water   In October, we went to the Wisconsin Dells. I went on the Mat Racers; it goes down really fast. I was scared to go on the Mat Racers at first because it looked very steep and the water goes down really fast. But I enjoyed it after my sister encouraged me to go. I went to the wave pool. I jumped and jumped along with the wave. We went on a tube called “the Tornado”. It went around and around of the water park and really fast. It was scary!

The water is pouring down!

Tumbling, Jumping Gymnastics Fun

Starting from the fall semester, my sister and I have been taking gymnastics class. We are in level 3.We are learning how to do back hand springs and front hand springs; they are hard to do! We also learned some stretches. When we get home we show the stretches to my dad but he can’t do them.

I am playing piano with Mrs. Alla. She is from Russia and is very nice. I am on Level 4 and my sister is on level 6. My favorite song is called Minuet 1. I went to the Discovery World with Amiee, Joaine, Aleksandra, Katerina, Natalya and my sister. We slept on nails that were real. They were really sharp, but we did not feel any pain. Do you know why?

Love,

Naomi Peng
